As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen accountability and transparency within the public sector, the Civil Service Agency (CSA) will on Friday, September 19, 2025, formally present the findings of its personnel and credential verification exercise for employees of the Judiciary Branch in Montserrado County.
The official presentation will take place at the Supreme Court of Liberia Conference Hall, where CSA Director-General Dr. Josiah F. Joekai, Jr. is expected to submit the report to His Honor, Chief Justice Yamin Quiqui Gbeisay, Sr.
The audit, conducted over several months, is part of the CSA’s broader civil service reform initiative aimed at enhancing public sector integrity, eliminating ghost employees, and ensuring that all civil servants possess the requisite qualifications for their roles.
Sources familiar with the process indicated that the verification focused on validating academic credentials, confirming employment statuses, and updating personnel records for Judiciary employees based in Montserrado County.
“This exercise is critical to strengthening governance and professionalism across all branches of government,” Dr. Joekai stated at the launch of the initiative. “It is our duty to ensure that public servants are both qualified and properly accounted for.”
The inclusion of the Judiciary in the verification process is seen as a significant step, particularly given its constitutional mandate to uphold and interpret the laws of Liberia. The findings are expected to inform future decisions on staffing, payroll management, and institutional reforms within the Judiciary.
Chief Justice Gbeisay is expected to make official remarks following the presentation, outlining the Judiciary’s response to the report and next steps for addressing any identified gaps or irregularities.
The verification exercise is part of the Government of Liberia’s wider public sector reform agenda, which seeks to improve operational efficiency, restore public trust in government institutions, and promote merit-based employment across all sectors.
