Cummings Meets Residents of Montserrado District 17 Ahead of 2029 Elections

Alexander B. Cummings, political leader of the Alternative National Congress (ANC), on Thursday , January 29, 2026, concluded a brief but impactful engagement with residents of Montserrado County District 17.

The meeting took place in the Red Hill community and brought together a cross-section of local leaders, as well as senior members of women and youth groups.

Participants were given the opportunity to voice their concerns directly to Mr. Cummings as he campaigns for support ahead of the 2029 general and presidential elections.

During the session, residents highlighted several issues affecting their communities, including access to quality education, healthcare, infrastructure development, and youth empowerment programs.

Mr. Cummings listened attentively to the concerns, taking notes and asking questions to better understand the challenges faced by residents.

In response, he assured the participants that the ANC is committed to working closely with community stakeholders to deliver tangible solutions.

“We are committed to working closely with community stakeholders to address your concerns in the short, medium, and long term,” Mr. Cummings said.

According to him, his goal is to provide better solutions to the problems affecting many ordinary Liberians.

“Our goal is to ensure that solutions are sustainable and benefit everyone in the district.”

He emphasized the importance of community engagement as a cornerstone of his party’s strategy for governance.

“Listening to the people and involving them in decision-making is critical for building trust and implementing programs that truly meet their needs,” he added.

The discussion also touched on issues affecting women and youth, with Mr. Cummings promising targeted initiatives to promote entrepreneurship, skills development, and leadership opportunities within the district.

Local leaders commended the ANC leader for taking time to engage directly with residents.

“It is encouraging to see a political leader come to the community and listen to our concerns. This gives us hope that our voices will be heard,” said one community representative.

Mr. Cummings also encouraged residents to actively participate in the democratic process, stressing that community involvement is key to the success of any development agenda.

“The future of Liberia depends on an informed and engaged citizenry. We need your ideas, your energy, and your commitment to make lasting change,” he told the audience.

Following the meeting, Mr. Cummings and the ANC team held brief one-on-one discussions with community stakeholders to clarify specific concerns and explore collaborative solutions.

The engagement concluded on a note of mutual commitment, with both Mr. Cummings and community members expressing optimism about future collaboration.

As he continues his outreach across Liberia, Mr. Cummings reiterated that the ANC would remain responsive to citizens’ needs and dedicated to fostering inclusive growth nationwide.
