Monrovia – SN Brussels landed at the Roberts International Airport (RIA) midnight, and there was no electricity. Passengers confirmed to this paper that they were using phone lights to claim their baggage. The airport continues to be challenged by nonstop power outages.
The management of the Liberia Airport Authority (LAA) confirmed to Verity News after a follow-up that, “The disruption was caused by an electrical issue originating from the Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC) power grid.”
The Roberts International Airport (RIA), on Sunday evening, March 30, experienced a power outage
disrupting airport operations and affecting travelers.
The outage occurred at approximately 5:00 PM, resulting in operational challenges at the airport’s terminal.
While the LAA has apologized for the inconvenience caused to passengers and staff, efforts to restore full power are already underway, with LAA officials working closely with LEC technicians.
“The Liberia Airport Authority deeply regrets any inconvenience caused by this disruption and is fully committed to resolving the situation as swiftly and safely as possible,” a statement from the LAA read.
Despite the challenges, the LAA emphasized its commitment to restoring normal operations at the airport as quickly as possible, assuring passengers and visitors that all necessary measures are being taken to minimize further delays.
The LAA Management, at the same time,, advised the public to remain calm as the LAA works toward a resolution.
