Greenville, Sinoe County – Tragedy struck early this morning in District Two of Sinoe County when a suspected new and lethal drug known locally as “Spark and Died” reportedly claimed the lives of two young men, sparking public outrage and fear across the community.
The deceased have been identified as 24-year-old Joseph Krombo and another youth, Swenti Togba, popularly known as T. Boy. According to eyewitness accounts, Joseph was rushed to a nearby clinic by friends after allegedly consuming the drug but was pronounced dead upon arrival. Swenti Togba, who reportedly took the same substance, passed away shortly after at the Government Camp clinic.
The sudden loss of these two promising lives has left the community reeling. Alarmed by the rise in drug-related deaths and addictions, residents—including women’s groups, elders, and youth organizations—are mobilizing for a peaceful protest. Their aim: to call on local government officials and law enforcement to crack down on drug peddling and restore safety to their neighborhoods.
“This is not just a tragedy; it is a wake-up call,” said one elder, emphasizing the urgent need for stronger regulation, community education, and immediate intervention.
