Deadly Fire Engulfs Duport Road Shara Community-Chairlady Confirmed Dead, Three Others Feared Dead

A tragic late-night fire has claimed the life of the Duport Road Shara Community Chairlady, Mrs. Deiode Davies Garnett, after flames engulfed her residence at about 11:00 p.m. on Friday. Three other individuals are also feared dead in the incident.

Eyewitnesses told this paper that the fire broke out suddenly at the home believed to be occupied by Mrs. Garnett. Residents, with support from the Liberia Fire Service (LFS), made frantic efforts to extinguish the blaze, but the inferno spread rapidly, trapping the occupants inside.

Community members later confirmed that Mrs. Garnett’s lifeless body was discovered along with those of three others who were in the house at the time. Authorities are yet to announce the identities of the additional victims.

As of early Saturday, the cause of the fire remains unknown. Both the Liberia National Fire Service and the Liberia National Police have launched a full-scale investigation to determine what triggered the deadly incident.

Meanwhile, grief-stricken residents and relatives gathered near the scene early Saturday morning, many weeping as they mourned the shocking loss of their community leader and neighbors.

This is a developing story. More details will be provided as they become available.
