Deputy Minister Takpah Urges MOI Employees to Uphold Strong Vehicle Maintenance Protocols

By Stephen Roberts and Amara Konneh

The Deputy Minister for Administration at the Ministry of Information (MOI), Johnny Takpah, has cautioned employees of the ministry to exercise responsibility and ownership in the use of newly procured vehicles, stressing the importance of strong maintenance protocols.

Minister Takpah made the remarks on Wednesday during the official presentation of more than six newly acquired vehicles at the ministry’s compound.

He emphasized that the vehicles were procured to ease long-standing transportation challenges faced by employees, describing the move as a demonstration of responsible leadership that prioritizes the welfare and wellbeing of staff.

According to him, the fleet includes two 30-seater buses and two Toyota Highlander jeeps designated for the Ministry of Information.

Additionally, one pickup truck and a 15-seater bus are intended for use by the Liberia National Tourism Authority (LNTA).

The vehicles are currently on the ground and awaiting formal turnover to their respective users.

The Deputy Minister noted that for years, many employees have endured serious hardship commuting to and from work, particularly those with low incomes and those residing far from the workplace.

He stated that the introduction of the new fleet will significantly reduce transportation burdens and improve punctuality during and after official working hours.

Meanwhile, the arrival of the vehicles was met with excitement and jubilation among employees, many of whom were seen smiling and expressing gratitude to senior management for the initiative.

Several staff members acknowledged that the new transportation support would greatly alleviate the difficulties they have long experienced in commuting.

It can be recalled that for the past seven years, the Ministry of Information has faced major infrastructural challenges, including inadequate mobility and other operational necessities.

However, since the inception of the current administration under Minister Jerolinmek Matthew Piah, the ministry has recorded noticeable improvements in infrastructure development and employee welfare.
