Monrovia, Liberia — Deputy Speaker of the 55th Legislature, Representative Thomas P. Fallah, has firmly rejected claims that he has joined the ruling Unity Party (UP), clarifying that his recent appearance at a UP event does not signify political alignment.
Rep. Fallah, a longtime stalwart of the opposition Congress for Democratic Change (CDC)—from which he is currently suspended—has come under public scrutiny after being seen at the Unity Party’s Homecoming Day and Fundraising Rally held on Saturday, December 6, 2025.
In a statement, the Deputy Speaker dismissed reports suggesting he had signed a UP membership form or declared allegiance to the party.
“I did not affix my signature to a membership form of the Unity Party. I have no political alignment with the Unity Party, but I support President Joseph Boakai’s ARREST Agenda,” Rep. Fallah said.
Fallah’s attendance at the UP event fueled speculation of a shifting political landscape within the Legislature, particularly given his historically strong ties to the CDC. However, the Deputy Speaker maintained that his presence should not be interpreted as a defection, insisting that his support is for national development initiatives rather than partisan affiliation.
Political observers say Fallah’s remarks may be an attempt to clarify his position amid heightened political sensitivities leading into the midterm calendar, as both ruling and opposition blocs intensify efforts to consolidate influence.
