Dillon Sends Advocate to Jones and Others; Kromah Urges Margibi Lawmakers to Back Salary Cut Bill

Kakata, Margibi County — Youth advocate and Chief Executive Office of YARD-Liberia Inc., Amb. Dennis Kromah Page II is urging all seven lawmakers representing Margibi County to support a legislative bill introduced by Montserrado County Senator Abraham Darius Dillon ~ the bill seeks to reduce lawmakers’ monthly salaries to US$5,000.

The call came on September 3, 2025, following a public exchange between Kromah and Senator Dillon on social media. In response to Kromah’s inquiry about the status of the bill, Senator Dillon stated: “Ask your other lawmakers to join me to pass the law that I proposed and submitted!”

The proposed legislation aims to slash the current salaries of Liberian lawmakers, which critics say are disproportionately high compared to the average citizen’s income and the country’s struggling economy.

Kromah emphasized that cutting lawmakers’ salaries would be a step toward restoring public trust and ensuring that national resources are better allocated to essential sectors such as education, healthcare, and infrastructure.

“This is not just about reducing pay,” Kromah said. “It’s about proving that leadership in Liberia is rooted in service—not personal gain.”

He further called on citizens across Liberia to join the push by pressuring their respective lawmakers to support the bill, saying that meaningful change requires public participation and sustained civic engagement.

The bill, first introduced by Senator Dillon, remains stalled in the Legislature, pending broader support among lawmakers.
