Monrovia, Liberia ~ The Director of Social and Community Services at the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning (MFDP), Mr. Saye-Maye Cole, has publicly raised concerns over delayed salary payments for civil servants and reportedly tendered his resignation.
In a strongly worded letter addressed to Minister Boima S. Ngafuan, Mr. Cole expressed deep frustration over the failure of the ministry to pay August salaries as schools prepare to reopen nationwide.
“Dear Susu Pa Minister Ngafuan,” the letter begins. “Today is September 3, 2025 and your Staff at the Ministry of Finance and Development haven’t taken pay.”
Highlighting the growing financial burden on families, Cole noted, “Please remember that schools open in few days, parents are digging hole to cover hole.”
Referencing the government’s salary harmonization program, Cole added, “Since you cannot take us back to pre-harmonization, let the small money come on time.”
He ended the letter with a direct appeal: “Uncle Joe trusted you to deliver on time — no archiving story please. Let the people get their Susu money for August.”
The letter, which has circulated widely on social media, has drawn attention from both within government circles and the broader public. While the Ministry has yet to issue an official statement, multiple sources within the MFDP confirmed that Mr. Cole submitted his resignation shortly after sending the letter.
This development adds pressure to an already tense atmosphere, as thousands of government employees anxiously await their salaries ahead of the school reopening period.
