Monrovia, Liberia — For the first time under the leadership of Dr. Emmanuel K. Urey Yarkpawolo, Executive Director of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) of Liberia, EPA inspectors proudly joined the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL) in celebrating the country’s 69th Armed Forces Day.
Observed annually on February 11, Armed Forces Day is a national holiday established by legislation to honor the men and women of the Liberian military for their service and sacrifice to the nation.
The day is marked by official ceremonies, parades, and activities recognizing the Armed Forces’ contributions to national security and development.
This year’s celebration was held under the theme, “Strengthening Liberia Together,” highlighting the importance of unity, collaboration, and shared responsibility in building a peaceful and prosperous nation.
The participation of EPA inspectors in this year’s event signaled a renewed commitment to inter-agency cooperation between environmental authorities and national security institutions. Under Dr. Yarkpawolo’s leadership, the EPA has emphasized partnership and national solidarity as key pillars in advancing environmental protection and sustainable development across Liberia.
The event brought together government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, security institutions, and citizens from across the country in a show of patriotism and support for the Armed Forces of Liberia.
As Liberia commemorates nearly seven decades of honoring its military, this year’s observance underscored the collective effort required to strengthen national institutions and foster unity in moving the country forward.
