Evangelist Joshua Milton Blahyi, widely known as “General Butt Naked” and a supporter of the ruling Unity Party, has criticized the government’s response to drug abuse, describing it as slow and inadequate.
Blahyi said that despite declaring drugs a national emergency, the government’s budget fails to reflect the urgency of the crisis. He noted that President Joseph Boakai initially prioritized the issue but progress has since stalled.
He further questioned the management of confiscated drugs and funds, urging authorities to redirect resources toward rehabilitation centers. According to him, proceeds from drug-related arrests should support rehab facilities to strengthen recovery efforts.
Blahyi called on the government to increase funding for rehabilitation programs, stressing that stronger investment is essential to effectively combat the country’s growing drug problem.
