EFFL Draws the Line; Gonquoi Dismisses CDC Protest as Directionless, Reaffirms October 25 Mobilization

By Preston Slami Panyonnoh

EFFL Commander-In-Chief Emmanuel Gonquoi delivers a firm message

“To Those Marching Under the CDC Banner; Pay Attention:”

Let it be made clear: the Economic Freedom Fighters of Liberia (EFFL) do not retreat in the face of pressure, and we reject any attempt to control how Liberians choose to live in their own land. To address recent speculation—our grassroots meetings currently taking place in communities across the country are completely unrelated to your planned protest, which, to date, remains void of any meaningful or coherent purpose.

When the EFFL organizes a demonstration, we come forward with legitimate, clearly defined issues—issues that command attention even from the international community. Our protests are not fueled by a desire to regain lost power, comforts, or entitlements. Instead, they are rooted in the pursuit of justice and the advancement of the Liberian people’s struggle.

As we move full speed ahead with preparations for October 25, 2025, we are intensifying mobilization efforts in all districts. This momentum is building toward two critical milestones: the launch of our Youth & Student Command leadership and the official opening of our National Headquarters.

No amount of outside noise, media spin, or political distractions will deter us from these goals. Some journalists have asked if we plan to clash with or “undermine” the protest set for July 17. To them, we offer no further comment; only an old saying: “If you follow a madman to fetch filthy water, you’re no different than him.” We are not interested in disorder or drama.

If anyone thinks they can block our leaders’ freedom of movement across Montserrado County, they are delusional. If any of our scheduled gatherings happen to fall on the same day as your protest; rest assured, those meetings will go ahead as planned. Period.

We are advancing; not retreating. The EFFL will not engage in reckless debates, nor will we bow to baseless threats. Liberia belongs to all of us, and we will continue to exercise our democratic rights; any time, in any place.

Forward Ever.
