The National Elections Commission (NEC) has unveiled the provisional list of aspirants for the highly anticipated Nimba County Senatorial By-Election, scheduled for April 22, 2025. A total of eight candidates have submitted their applications, with a mix of independent hopefuls and those representing various political parties.
The list of aspirants includes Torbor Tee Wonokay Famgalo, an independent candidate, alongside B. Mack Gblinwon, who represents the Citizens Movement for Change (CMC). Edith Lianue Gongloe-Weh, another independent, and George Parkinson Gonpu, also running as an independent, are among those seeking to secure the seat.
Other contenders include Samuel Gongben Kogar of the Movement for Democracy and Reconstruction (MDR), Richard Matenckay Tingban from the African Democratic Movement-Liberia (ADML), Garrison Doldeh Vealue, Jr. of Vision for Liberia Transformation (VOLT), and Justin Oldpa Yeazeahn, popularly known as Prophet Key, running as an independent candidate.
The NEC has emphasized that the process is still ongoing, and any challenges or objections from candidates or political parties will be addressed in accordance with electoral laws. As such, the final list of qualified candidates may be subject to change based on the process.
