Workers at the Monrovia Consolidated School System, on Monday, May 20, besieged the main entrance of the MCSS central office, demanding the removal of the Assistant Superintendent of the school system, Emmanuel Kayne Robertson.
The protestors are grumbling that since the appointment of Mr. Robertson, he continues to be engaged in acts inimical to the professional environment at the MCSS.
Mr. Robertson is the Assistant Superintendent for Instructions at MCSS, a Civil Servant position and not a presidential appointment position.
They asserted that Mr. Robertson continues to bring the MCSS to public scorn and calumniation as the result of unethical procedures, which they said results from being inexperienced.
These amateurish practices, according to the aggrieved workers often result in, controllable outburst against the MCSS Central Office staff, students, teachers, and principals, among others;
They alleged that Mr. Robertson has shown gross discourtesy to senior staff in the Building, including his boss, Superintendent James A. S. Momoh l, on several occasions, especially during Senior Management Meetings and other official interactions.
Additionally, the discontented workers said Mr. Robertson has been in the habit of making Policy Statements on behalf of the MCSS; when in fact, the official spokesperson for the MCSS and shows no regard for his actions and taking unilateral decisions regarding the appointment of individuals to positions without consulting the Superintendent and Human Resource Director.
In a resolution, the aggrieved through their spokesperson stressed, “We, the Workers Association of MCSS do here the President to with immediate effect, recall the appointment of Mr. Robertson to restore calm and professionalism at the MCSS; and that, both the Civil Service Agency (CSA) and MCSS Council do the needful by ensuring that the legitimately recruited Assistant Superintendent for Instructions, Mr. Samuel Johnson resumes work without any further delay as he is still on the entity’s payroll and collecting his monthly salaries.”
“That, the noncompliance posture exhibited by Mr. Robertson to stop the proposed renovation of the Central Office which is lying in ruin; suggests that this man does not mean well for the entity and its employees.”
They are angry over allegations that their offices are in ruin and Mr. Johnson is against its renovation.
When contacted on the matter, Robertson said he could not officially respond to the issue, because the matter since it currently before the MCSS Board and the board is looking into it.
However, Robertson in a a conversation with OK FM, Robertson noted that those associated with the protest are doing so, after realizing that he can not be thwarted into alleged corrupt practices.
He pressed that it was unthinkable that MCSS would want to use US$86 Thousand for renovation of its office building when schools are lying in ruins.
At the same time, Robertson noted that what is getting his adversaries mad, is his decision to resist the compulsory purchase of uniforms from the MCSS, which he alleged is intended to benefit certain individuals, and his called for principals of MCSS to have a Master Degree in Education or Public Administration.
