Eugene Fahngon, Director General of the Liberia Broadcasting System (LBS), has called for the immediate recall of Bomi County Senator Edwin Melvin Snowe from his position as Representative of Liberia at the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). Fahngon’s demand follows a recent interview in which Senator Snowe made comments that have sparked national outrage and condemnation from government officials and citizens alike.
During a live podcast broadcast from his farm, Fahngon expressed strong disapproval of Senator Snowe’s remarks, describing them as “reckless, irresponsible, and unacceptable.” The senator, during an appearance on Spoon Talk, allegedly expressed a desire for the current Liberian government to fail. According to Snowe, such a failure would create an opportunity for the opposition to assume leadership in the country.
These comments have not gone well with many within the government and among the public, who view the statement as a direct threat to national unity and stability. Fahngon emphasized that Snowe’s words could potentially undermine peace, development, and the broader security of Liberia, particularly at a time when the nation is striving to recover from years of instability and build trust in democratic institutions.
Fahngon insists that Senator Snowe should issue an immediate and public apology to the Liberian people. Furthermore, he argues that Snowe’s continued representation of Liberia at ECOWAS is no longer tenable, given the gravity of his statements. Snowe is one of only two senators currently representing Liberia at the regional body, making his role critical in shaping Liberia’s image and interests on the West African stage. The situation continues to draw attention as political tensions rise over the implications of Snowe’s comments and the potential diplomatic consequences if no action is taken
