By Ben TC Brooks

River Gee – [June 25, 2025] – A tragic event unfolded in the Tienpo Statutory District of River Gee County, where a 34-year-old man, Charles Katieh, lost his life after being struck by a falling tree.

The incident occurred earlier in the week in Dweh Village while Katieh was engaged in a routine logging operation.

He was assisting a power saw operator when, unexpectedly, a tree fell off its intended path and fatally hit him. Despite prompt attempts at rescue, Katieh was declared dead at the scene.

In light of this heartbreaking incident, local authorities have established a 15-member jury to investigate the factors surrounding Katieh’s untimely death.

The jury concluded that he died instantly from the impact of the tree. Following the investigation, his body was returned to his devastated family for burial.

This tragedy has sparked renewed discussions regarding the safety protocols in forestry operations across the rural areas of River Gee.
