1st. Division champions FC Fassell has officially named Bosnian tactician Amir Alagic as its new head coach, following the departure of Belgian manager Avin Minnaert, who has reportedly taken over coaching duties at Uganda’s Vipers Sports Club.
The announcement was made on July 30, 2025, as the Liberian First Division side unveiled Alagic at a ceremony held at the club’s headquarters in Monrovia. The 65-year-old coach has signed a one-year deal with a mandate to guide Fassell to the group stage of the CAF Champions League and clinch the Liberia Football Association (LFA) First Division title in the upcoming season.
Alagic touched down in Liberia early Wednesday and wasted no time expressing his enthusiasm for the new challenge.
The Bosnian coach brings extensive international experience to the role. He holds a UEFA Pro License and has coached in both the UEFA Champions League and the Asian Champions League. He has served in the roles as assistant coach at Bundesliga club Werder Bremen, head coach of Saudi club Al-Riyadh, and stints with Al-Nasr’s academy team in the UAE, famously linked with football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo.
Internationally, Alagic has led national teams including Sri Lanka, Libya’s U-23 side, and Bosnia and Herzegovina’s U-19 team.
As part of a broader squad revamp, FC Fassell also introduced several foreign signings on July 30, including Moroccan physical trainer Diffaa Hassani Al Jadidi. The club is bolstering its technical staff and playing squad in preparation for a demanding campaign both domestically and on the continental stage.
FC Fassell’s management headed by its CEO Cassell Kuoh expressed confidence that Alagic’s experience and strategic vision will position the club for success in the 2025–26 season.
