Monrovia – The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sara Beysolow Nyanti on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 had a meeting with Mr. Anthony Ohemeng-Boamah, the new UNDP Country Representative to Liberia.
The meeting aimed at strengthening partnership between Liberia and the UNDP in driving sustainable development and tackling socio-economic challenges.
Key discussions focused on poverty reduction, governance, and capacity building, emphasizing the alignment of development initiatives with Liberia’s national agenda.
In a release issued on the Ministry Website, quoted the Foreign Minister Nyanti expressing her gratitude for the UNDP’s steadfast support and underscored the vital role of international partnerships in fostering resilience and progress in Liberia.
For his part, UNDP New Country Representative Ohemeng-Boamah reaffirmed his institution commitment to supporting Liberia’s developmental goals.
UNDP Country Representative extolled the Boakai-Koung administration efforts towards inclusive growth.
The meeting concluded with a mutual pledge to enhance collaboration and explore new opportunities for partnership, ensuring continued progress and prosperity for Liberia.
On another development, it was announced that a significant step towards strengthening economic ties with China was is underway.
According to a release, a high-powered delegation from the Ministry, led by Hon. Jeff Bante Blibo, Chairman of the National Investment Commission (NIC), is set to visit China through the invitation of China Construction Third Engineering Bureau Group Co, Ltd (CCTEB).
The delegation will engage with the National Development and Reform Commission of China (NDRCC), exploring new avenues for collaboration under the “Belt and Road” initiatives.
The release noted that there will be a roundtable discussions with potential business executives, aimed at attracting Chinese investment into Liberia’s thriving sectors.
The Liberian delegation include, Blibo, Hon. Christopher Hayes Onanuga, Ambassador-At-Large for Tourism; Mohammed Maladho Bah, Presidential Special Envoy on Investment; and Bedell Sandi, as well as member of the Board of the National Port Authority (NPA).
The individuals presence seems to underscore Liberia’s commitment to fostering tourism, enhancing investment, and improving port facilities.
According to the Ministry, the visit is a crucial step in Liberia’s ongoing efforts to attract foreign investment and drive economic growth.
The Ministry further highlighted anticipating fruitful outcomes from this mission as Liberia continues to create a welcoming environment for international investors.
