Former Commerce Minister Modad Fires Back at Senator Snowe Over “Dangerous Rhetoric”

Monrovia, Liberia – Former Minister of Commerce and Industry, Amin Modad, has issued a pointed response to recent statements made by Bomi County Senator Edwin Melvin Snowe Jr., criticizing what he described as hypocrisy and dangerous political rhetoric.

In a strongly worded public statement, Modad questioned Senator Snowe’s outrage over public backlash to his recent comments, in which Snowe appeared to welcome or predict the failure of the current administration.

Modad recalled previous incidents where he claims Snowe had targeted him with damaging accusations, contributing to a hostile environment that allegedly endangered his family.

“My dear brother, Edwin Melvin Snowe Jr., is it really you crying foul over public reaction?” Modad began. “When you spread malicious stories about me on Spoon FM and other platforms—stories that escalated to the point where my wife’s vehicle was attacked—did you consider the threat that posed to me and my family?”

He accused Snowe of prioritizing political interest over national unity and called on the Senator to retract his recent statements and apologize to the Liberian people.

“As a senator, your statement was threatening—not just to the administration, but to the Liberian people,” Modad continued. “How can anyone wish for the failure of a government as if the consequences wouldn’t affect all Liberians equally?”

Modad stressed that the nation’s progress depends on moving beyond “political posturing and profiteering” and urged leaders to act in the interest of collective national development, not personal or partisan gain.

The exchange follows a wave of criticism directed at Senator Snowe for his controversial remarks, which many interpreted as undermining the legitimacy or success of the Boakai administration.

Snowe has since attempted to clarify his position, citing misinterpretation.
