“STOP BEING SENTIMENTAL REP. TOLES
Stop the sentiment, get serious and submit an amendment to the existing drugs law @Rep Prince Aquency Toles. Calling for Capital Punishment without a submitted amendment to the existing Act is showmanship and out of order legislatively.
What an embarrassment to ask the President to issue Executive Order for Capital punishment. Such argument shows lack of understanding of your constitutional authority to make laws. Submit an amendment to the drugs law and not to repeal the law because which provision do you want to repeal? You really meant to say amend the law to include Capital punishment. To amend the existing law you just need to submit such first and lobby your colleagues.
Interestingly, Liberia is a signatory to international convention that will not tolerate Capital punishment and you didn’t do your research before making mere political statement. You are almost two years old in the Legislature and not a single bill on the fight against drugs you have submitted but you calling on your colleagues to ensure Capital punishment.
First use your oversight to ensure that the Executive impartially enforces the non bailable existing drugs law we sponsored and passed. Take the courage to submit a communication to the legislative floor and initiative a robust oversight while you are working on an amendment Honorable.”
