Former Township Commissioner Arrested With Firearm at CDC HQ

By Archie Boan

Police have arrested William C. Wea, a former Commissioner of West Point Township, for allegedly carrying a firearm inside the Opposition Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) headquarters.

The incident occurred during an eviction and demolition operation at the CDC compound in Congo Town, Monrovia.

According to police reports, Wea was found inside one of the buildings on the premises, allegedly armed.

Authorities say the former Commissioner is a known supporter of the CDC and may have been at the scene in connection with the party’s ongoing resistance to the eviction.

The arrest reportedly turned chaotic when Wea allegedly resisted officers and used pepper spray during the encounter.

Police were eventually able to subdue and detain him without serious injury, though tensions at the scene remained high.

Officials have not yet confirmed the type of firearm found or whether it was licensed.

Wea’s motives for being at the CDC headquarters during the demolition remain unclear, as investigations are ongoing.

The CDC has yet to issue a statement regarding the incident or Wea’s alleged involvement.

This is a developing story, and more details are expected in the coming days.
