Former Wee District Representative Declines Senate Re-Election Bid, Focuses on Representative Seat

By Hogkins Tokpah

Former Wee Statutory District Representative, Vincent Willie, has opted out of running for senator in Grand Bassa County once more.

In a statement on a local radio yesterday, journalists, Willie cited his previous unsuccessful bid in the 2020 senatorial election while serving as a representative as a key factor in his decision.

“When I contested in 2020, you said I shouldn’t be senator, and now you are asking me to run again. I will contest in Electoral District #4 as representative,” expressed Hon. Willie.

During the 2020 midterm senatorial election, Willie, who represented ED#4 in Grand Bassa County, finished in third place.

This outcome was seen by some political observers as a strategic move to hinder Senator Gbehzohngar Findley’s chances of winning the election.

As the 2029 General and Presidential Elections draw closer, the former lawmaker remains actively engaged with the residents of the three administrative districts of Wee District, focusing on his campaign for representative in Electoral District #4.

Willie’s decision has prompted speculation and interest among constituents in Grand Bassa County on the potential impact of his choice to pursue the representative seat.
