From Floor to Desks: KunCare Foundation Donates 50 Desks to Fish Town Demonstration School

Fifty new desks have been donated to the Demonstration School in Fish Town City by the KunCare Foundation, in a gesture aimed at improving learning conditions for students who were previously forced to sit on the floor during classes.

The donation, led by the Foundation’s CEO, Cllr. Kun Teh, comes in direct response to a recent social media post by prominent Liberian activist Martin Kollie. Kollie’s post highlighted the lack of basic furniture at the school, sparking concern and calls for support from the public.

During a brief ceremony marking the handover, Cllr. Teh underscored the importance of investing in youth and education. “Helping the younger ones is very important,” he said, urging others to follow suit in supporting the county’s education system.

The principal of the school expressed heartfelt thanks, noting that Cllr. Teh’s support has been consistent. He recalled that earlier this year, when a violent storm damaged the school’s roof, Teh had stepped in with a donation of six bundles of zinc to aid in repairs. “He may be just a citizen of River Gee, but his actions speak volumes,” the principal said.

Community leaders and local officials joined in praising the donation, calling it a meaningful contribution to strengthening education in the region.
