From Money Distributor to Property Seller: Former Deputy Finance Minister Turns to Sales

Monrovia, Liberia – Former Deputy Finance Minister Samora Wollokollie appears to have taken a new path outside government, turning to the private sector and personal sales to stay active following his time in public office.

In a recent public Facebook post, Wollokollie shared a notice advertising the sale of his personal vehicle, a 2021 Kia Sorento SUV. The former minister made it clear that the offer was strictly for “serious buyers only.”

For Sale: 2021 Kia Sorento SUV,” he wrote.
“Attention serious buyers only. If you’re interested, please contact me via private message (in my inbox) for pricing details. I will provide all information directly to qualified inquiries. AGAIN, SERIOUS BUYERS ONLY. Thank you for your interest.”

The post comes as a notable shift for the once-prominent official, who played a key role in national financial management under the previous administration. Known for overseeing budgetary allocations and fiscal planning, Wollokollie now appears to be exploring alternative ways to generate income or possibly offload assets.

While selling a personal vehicle is not uncommon, the move has caught public attention, especially considering the stature of the seller and the current climate of economic uncertainty in Liberia. It also fuels ongoing public speculation about the post-political lives of former officials and the transition many make from public service to private ventures.

There has been no official comment from Wollokollie regarding whether the sale is part of a broader business venture or simply a one-time transaction. However, his direct and candid communication suggests a hands-on approach to this new chapter.

As the former finance official enters what appears to be a more entrepreneurial phase, observers continue to watch how other ex-government figures adapt in a shifting political and economic landscape.
