Monrovia, Liberia – A tense scene unfolded today in Monrovia as a group of Fulani women staged a spontaneous protest following the attempted arrest of a woman from their community.
The incident began when the woman in question was reportedly caught tampering with an electrical theft. According to eyewitnesses, as officers attempted to arrest her, she allegedly threw a stool at one of the police officers and spilled a pot of hot soup in the process, further escalating the confrontation.
The police presence at the scene quickly grew as dozens of Fulani women gathered to express their frustration and defend their community member. The women claimed the arrest was carried out with excessive force and without proper explanation.
“We are tired of being mistreated and disrespected. Our sister was only trying to make a living,” one protester shouted, holding a placard in her native dialect.
Police authorities have not released an official statement on the incident, but sources within the Liberia National Police confirmed that the officer involved was not seriously injured.
Tensions remain high in the area, with community leaders calling for calm and urging authorities to investigate the matter fairly.
