A senior delegation from the G7+ Secretariat held discussions with Liberia’s Minister of Justice and Attorney General, Cllr. N. Oswald Tweh, about plans to establish a Rapid Response Centre in Liberia.
Leading the delegation, G7+ Secretary-General Dr. Helder da Costa outlined plans to establish a Rapid Response Centre in Liberia.
He described the initiative as a strategic effort to enhance peace, stability, and resilience across member countries.
According to Dr. da Costa, the Centre will be provided at no cost to Liberia, operating on a pro bono basis to deliver timely and expert assistance to nations confronting urgent and complex challenges.
Minister Tweh welcomed the initiative and expressed strong government support, noting that the Centre would significantly benefit Liberia.
He highlighted that it could help reduce the country’s reliance on costly international arbitration, allowing those funds to be redirected toward critical sectors such as education, healthcare, and public service delivery.
He also reaffirmed Liberia’s ongoing commitment to advancing peace, justice, and stability, emphasizing the country’s leadership role on the global stage, particularly as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council.
During the meeting, Minister Tweh introduced Deputy Minister for Codification, Cllr. J. Augustine Toe, who will serve as the Ministry’s focal point for coordination with the G7+ Rapid Response Centre.
The G7+ is an intergovernmental body comprising conflict-affected and fragile states that collaborate to promote peace, effective development practices, and shared learning among member nations.
