Generation Liberia Rehabilitates Vai Kianway Clinic, Ending Years of Healthcare Neglect in Grand Cape Mount

Vai Kianway, Grand Cape Mount County — After more than a decade of abandonment, the Vai Kianway Community Clinic is being restored through a major rehabilitation initiative led by Generation Liberia under the stewardship of its Chief Executive Officer, Madam Fanta Kamara (FK, MBA).

The rehabilitation project is focused on returning the clinic to full functionality, providing essential healthcare services to thousands of residents along the Kianway corridor.

Once completed, the facility is expected to serve more than ten neighboring communities, including Kianway-1, Kianway-2, Kpesseh, Bontee, Sue, Gbama Lumeh, Manogleh, Seven-Seven, Dumagbe, Largor, and Kabanda.

The clinic, originally constructed through the county administration with the backing of the late Senator Dagoseh, fell into disuse for years due to prolonged neglect, lack of rehabilitation, and limited government support.

As a result, residents,

particularly pregnant women, children, and the elderly—were compelled to travel long distances to access even basic medical services.

Multiple efforts by former community leaders to revive the facility proved unsuccessful.

During the 2023 general elections, senatorial aspirant Dr. Lyndon Mabande publicly pledged to rehabilitate the clinic, but the commitment was never realized, drawing criticism from residents who later described the promise as politically driven.

Generation Liberia’s intervention has been widely welcomed by community members and local leaders, who view the initiative as a meaningful response to years of unmet healthcare needs.

“This clinic represents life for our people,” a community leader remarked. “We have endured too much suffering, and this effort restores hope.”

Project coordinators report that renovation works are progressing steadily, with plans to officially reopen the clinic to the public upon completion.

Once operational, the facility is expected to reduce preventable illnesses and deaths while significantly improving access to basic healthcare services throughout the area.

The rehabilitation of the Vai Kianway Community Clinic aligns with Generation Liberia’s broader development mission, which focuses on strengthening healthcare delivery, expanding educational opportunities, and improving social services in underserved and rural communities across Liberia.
