German Ambassador to Liberia, Dr. Jakob Haselhuber has toured the facilities of the Community of Hope Agriculture Project (CHAP) farm and rice processing plant, along with their administrative offices.
The visit was intended for Ambassador Haselhuber to familiarize himself with the entire process of growing rice, processing it and got insight how the initiative was laudable.
During the visit, Ambassador Haselhuber engaged with local farmers and workers, witnessing firsthand; the challenges posed by flooding in the region.
He also recognized the significant opportunities available and commended CHAP for its pivotal role in advancing food security initiatives, particularly through its promotion of Liberian rice.
Expressing his admiration for CHAP’s efforts, Ambassador Haselhuber welcomed the concept of establishing a Center of Excellence aimed at enhancing agricultural education in Liberia.
He encouraged widespread adoption of Liberian rice, aligning with the Government of Liberia’s ARREST agenda.
The Ambassador, commended existing donors and partners Adaptation Fund that is supporting RICOWAS PROJECT, Concern Worldwide, Irish Aid,UNDP,World Bank, among others for support to CHAP.
His Excellency, Dr. Haselhuber pledged to lobby with other diplomats of EU in Liberia to visit and support the work of CHAP and buy Liberian rice.
CHAP, known for its dedication to fighting hunger in Liberia, continues to play a crucial role in agricultural development, bolstered by international support and local commitment.
