Ghana Foreign Ministry Responds to Visa Complaints

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration of the Republic of Ghana has issued a press release on February 24, 2025, addressing concerns raised by the public regarding the treatment of Ghanaian citizens applying for visas at foreign embassies and high commissions in the country. The Ministry acknowledged the numerous complaints about inadequate waiting areas, lack of emergency services, long delays in securing appointment dates, and difficulties with visa application websites.

In response to these grievances, the Ministry has engaged with embassies and high commissions to improve the conditions for applicants. A Note Verbale has been sent to all foreign missions, urging them to provide more humane and conducive environments at their embassies, high commissions, and visa centers. The Ministry expects that these foreign missions will take the necessary steps to address the issues raised by the public.

While the Ministry has emphasized the importance of these improvements, it also acknowledged the autonomy of embassies and high commissions in deciding visa issuance. The Ministry assured the public of its commitment to working closely with foreign missions to ensure that visa applicants are treated fairly and with respect.

The press release concluded with a statement reaffirming the Ministry’s dedication to resolving the challenges faced by Ghanaian citizens in the visa application process and ensuring better service standards in the future.
