GoL and World Bank to Launch Governance and Accountability Project

Monrovia – The Government of Liberia, in partnership with the World Bank and other key stakeholders, is set to officially launch the Governance Reform and Accountability Transformation (GREAT) Project. The event will take place on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at the EJS Ministerial Complex in Monrovia.

This initiative, funded by a $30 million grant from the World Bank’s International Development Association (IDA), is aimed at enhancing governance, strengthening institutional capacity, and improving service delivery in critical government sectors. The GREAT Project will focus on increasing access to digital public services, improving tax revenue collection, and reinforcing transparency and accountability within key government institutions.

The project seeks to modernize public administration by leveraging technology and institutional reforms, thereby boosting government efficiency and benefiting all Liberians. Approved on June 12, 2024, the GREAT Project is scheduled to run through November 30, 2030.

Key government institutions set to benefit from this transformative initiative include the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications (MoPT), Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA), National Identification Registry (NIR), General Auditing Commission (GAC), Public Procurement and Concessions Commission (PPCC), and Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC).
