Buchanan, Grand Bassa County – The National Oil Company of Liberia (NOCAL) has launched a three-day Strategic Retreat in Buchanan, signaling a major step toward energy independence and long-term sustainability. Held under the theme “
Forging a Resilient Energy Future,” the retreat brings together key sector leaders and policymakers as part of efforts to align with the government’s ARREST AgendaOpening the retreat, Fabian M. Lai, Acting President of NOCAL, described the event as a defining moment for Liberia’s energy sector.“
This is Liberia’s opportunity to transform its energy landscape into a driver of inclusive growth,” Lai stated, reaffirming NOCAL’s dedication to actualizing President Joseph Boakai’s energy vision. He highlighted hydrocarbon exploration, governance reform, and strategic partnerships as priority areas.
Lai also commended Cllr. Gloria M. Scott, Chairperson of NOCAL’s Board of Directors, for her leadership and guidance in steering the sector toward national progress.In her remarks, Cllr. Scott emphasized the need for transparency and impact. “
Our oil and gas resources must tangibly benefit the Liberian people—through better schools, healthcare, and infrastructure—not just revenue generation,” she asserted.
