Grand Gedeh Bar Association Congratulates Chief Justice-Designate Yamie Quiqui Gbeisay

The President of the Grand Gedeh Bar Association and Chairperson of the Liberia National Bar Association (LNBA) Continuing Legal Education Committee, Cllr. Kanio Bai Gbala, has extended heartfelt congratulations to His Excellency President Joseph Nyuma Boakai for nominating His Honor, Justice Yamie Quiqui Gbeisay, as Chief Justice of the Republic of Liberia.

In a statement issued Monday, Cllr. Gbala praised the President’s decision as a demonstration of “sound leadership and judicial foresight,” noting that the nomination is a significant milestone in Liberia’s continued pursuit of an independent and integrity-driven judiciary.

“Justice Gbeisay’s steady rise through the ranks of our judiciary has been marked by discipline, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to justice,” Cllr. Gbala remarked. “His appointment reflects not only a reward for distinguished service but a reaffirmation of public confidence in the rule of law.”

Justice Gbeisay, who has served with distinction on the Supreme Court Bench as an Associate Justice, is widely regarded as one of Liberia’s most principled legal minds.

His nomination as Chief Justice comes at a time when the judiciary is being called upon to deliver impartial justice and uphold constitutional order.

Cllr. Gbala highlighted Justice Gbeisay’s contributions beyond the courtroom, noting his active role in legal education.

“Justice Gbeisay is a respected member of the Liberian National Bar Association (LNBA) and Associate Professor at the Louis Arthur Grimes School of Law, where I am also privileged to lecture,” he said. “His elevation will no doubt bring renewed inspiration, immense benefit, and renewed credibility to these cornerstone institutions of legal education and practice in Liberia.”

The Grand Gedeh Bar Association, along with members of the national legal fraternity, has joined a growing chorus of voices commending the nomination as a progressive step toward strengthening judicial independence and professionalism in Liberia.

Justice Gbeisay’s confirmation now awaits Senate approval. If confirmed, he will become the nation’s top judicial officer at a time of evolving legal and democratic challenges, ushering in what many hope will be a new era of accountability, transparency, and rule of law.
