Guinea Army Chief Vows to Defend ‘Every Inch’ of Territory Amid Border Tensions

The Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of Guinea, Ibrahima Sory Bangoura, has warned that the country will firmly defend its territorial integrity following reported incidents along its borders with Liberia and Sierra Leone.

In remarks broadcast by Radio Télévision Guinéenne (RTG), General Bangoura said the Guinean military had gathered technical information related to what he described as a violation of the country’s territory and had forwarded the findings to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the instruction of President Mamadi Doumbouya.

“No portion of land will be given to anyone. We will defend every inch of our territory,” General Bangoura declared.

According to the army chief, the information collected by the armed forces forms part of an ongoing process aimed at addressing the situation through appropriate diplomatic and security channels.

The comments come amid growing attention to border incidents in the Mano River region, where communities along the frontiers of Guinea, Liberia, and Sierra Leone have occasionally reported disputes over territorial boundaries and security movements.

General Bangoura emphasized that the Guinean military remains committed to protecting the country’s sovereignty while the government continues to engage relevant diplomatic institutions regarding the matter.

Authorities in Liberia and Sierra Leone have not yet publicly responded to the latest statement.

Further details are expected as officials from the respective governments assess the situation.
