Have Things Fallen Apart? Former Supporter Criticizes CDC Lawmaker’s Leadership

Harbel City, Margibi – A former supporter of Representative Ivar K. Jones of Margibi County Electoral District #2 has strongly criticized the lawmaker’s leadership, calling it “disappointing” and urging him to be more accountable to the people who elected him.

Mark Nuah, who once supported Rep. Jones, expressed his dissatisfaction during a interview on a local radio station in the county. Nuah warned that Jones risks becoming what he described as “a government bone” if he continues to neglect his constituents.

“I’ve been following the happenings in the county even though I’m studying out of the country,” Nuah said. “But I haven’t seen any of the opposition candidates who contested the election alongside Rep. Jones holding him accountable ~ except for Mr. Whorway.”

Nuah accused Jones of poor performance since taking office and warned that he would actively campaign against the lawmaker in the 2029 general elections. He also slammed the representative for distributing US$30,000 to only his supporters ~ funds Nuah claims could benefit the entire district through education, healthcare among others.

“You brought in $30,000 of the people’s money and then decided who should benefit from it based on political loyalty,” Nuah said. “Your platform’s 8th pillar is about reconciliation, but this is the opposite of that. If the money had been invested in health or education, it would have had a lasting impact. Instead, you used it to divide.”

In response, Rep. Ivar Jones denied that Nuah was ever a genuine supporter, dismissing the criticism. “Nuah never supported me in the first place,” Jones said briefly in response to the allegations. The exchange has added to growing scrutiny of Rep. Jones’s leadership as he approaches the midpoint of his term. Critics say more accountability and inclusivity are needed to fulfill his campaign promises and effectively serve the constituents of District #2
