Monrovia- The leadership of the House of Representatives is scheduled to meet on Monday, February 9, with citizens and residents claiming ownership of land along the 72nd Barracks, known as Camp Ramrod.
The meeting will take place in the First Floor Conference Room of the House of Representatives and is intended to hear directly from individuals affected by the ongoing land occupancy dispute in the area.
The decision follows a formal communication from Montserrado County Electoral District #5 Representative, Hon. Priscillia A. Cooper, who raised concerns on behalf of her constituents regarding alleged land encroachment outside Camp Ramrod. In her communication to Plenary, Rep. Cooper requested that the Ministry of National Defense be invited to provide clarity on the matter.
During the 8th Day Sitting of the 3rd Session of the 55th Legislature on Thursday, February 5, 2026, Speaker Richard Nagbe Koon, announced that the House leadership would convene the meeting as part of efforts to address the concerns raised.
Either, the court ruled in the favor of the Armed Forces Liberia (AFL) on the 72nd land area.
Speaker Koon emphasized that the House of Representatives remains committed to the welfare and well-being of all Liberian citizens and to resolving grievances through peaceful dialogue and established institutional processes.
Rep. Cooper welcomed the decision, expressing appreciation to the Speaker and the House leadership for what she described as a timely intervention. She noted that listening to the concerns of her constituents and providing them with an opportunity to be heard is essential to finding a fair resolution.
According to the House leadership, the outcome of the engagement will help guide subsequent actions, including consultations with relevant government institutions, in the interest of fairness, transparency, national security, and community stability.
