“In a strong show of support for Liberian music and cultural expression, House Speaker Hon. Richard Nagbe Koon made a surprise appearance at the Christoph “The Change” Concert held at the Samuel Kanyon Doe (SKD) Sports Complex on Saturday, July 26, as part of celebrations marking Liberia’s 178th Independence Day.
Speaker Koon joined hundreds of Liberians at the iconic venue to celebrate homegrown talents and reaffirm his commitment to promoting the nation’s vibrant arts and cultural sector.
“I am deeply inspired by the love Liberians are showing for their own. It’s time we all rally behind our artists and cultural figures,” Speaker Koon said. “We must support Liberian music, arts, and everything that reflects our identity as a people.”
The Speaker went on to announce plans to host the next mass musical jamboree, signaling a new level of national support for local entertainers and creatives.
Calling for greater patriotism at all levels, Hon. Koon urged Liberians to love their country and embrace all aspects of the nation’s identity—including its rich cultural heritage.
“Loving Liberia means loving everything about it—its people, its music, and its traditions,” he emphasized.
Speaker Koon’s appearance and message were well received by fans, artists, and cultural stakeholders alike, reinforcing the growing momentum behind the movement to elevate Liberian music and culture on both the national and international stages.” HOR
