The wife of Mr. Aaron Gayflor has broken her silence months after her husband was allegedly assaulted by a staff of the Ministry of Finance, an incident she says has left him battling deteriorating health.
Speaking to our reporter on Sunday, Mrs. Yassa Gayflor alleged that her husband was slapped by Mr. K. Maseyeah Sorsor, an employee of the Ministry, and has since suffered from serious health complications.
“My husband has been unwell since the incident happened months ago. This morning around 9 a.m., he was feeling very weak and worried about his health, which he felt off” she explained. “I am calling on all Liberians, humanitarians, and government officials to help us seek justice for what has happened to my husband.”
Mr. Gayflor, who also spoke to the reporter said the trauma of the alleged assault continues to weigh heavily on him.
“When I think about what Mr. Sorsor did to me, my pressure can rise,” he said. “In this country, when you are poor and a rich person harms you, just know you are finished because you will not get justice. Government officials are using their powers to harm common people.”
The family is appealing for swift intervention from the authorities to ensure the matter is fully investigated and justice served.
