The Monrovia Consolidated School System Teachers’ Association (MCSSTA) has declared a go-slow action, demanding the Government address key issues affecting teachers and other employees of the Monrovia Consolidated School System (MCSS).
In a press release issued on Thursday, March 20, 2025, the association stated that its decision was based on a resolution from the Faculty Representative Council, which represents the interests of MCSS employees. The teachers’ association is calling on the Government to take immediate steps to resolve long-standing concerns, including salary adjustments, employment transitions, and increased budgetary support.
Among the key demands is adjusting monthly salaries to reflect employees’ academic qualifications. The association also wants all volunteer workers to transition to full-time employment to ensure the delivery of quality education. Additionally, the teachers are urging the Government to implement a promised salary increment, which they say was affirmed by both President Joseph Boakai in his State of the Nation Address and Finance Minister Augustine Ngafuan on multiple radio stations.
The MCSSTA further stressed the urgent need for increased budgetary support, warning that the MCSS is operating in a financial deficit, as the Civil Service Agency (CSA) indicated.
In their statement, the association called on all MCSS employees to refrain from reporting to their respective assignments until the Government addresses their concerns.
