Induction Ceremony of the Student Council Government Elect at Free Pentecostal University

By Morlu F. Freeman Sr.

Lofa County -The Free Pentecostal University has officially inducted its newly elected Student Council Government into office at the university’s main edifice in the county.

This momentous occasion brought together students, faculty members, and community leaders to mark the beginning of a new chapter in student governance.

The guest speaker, Hon. Moses U. Saah Weidehgar County Health Officer of Lofa County, delivered an inspiring address emphasizing that true leadership is about service.

He urged the elected leaders to serve as role models for their peers, embodying traits of humility and accountability. Hon. Weidhgar stressed the importance of deliberate communication and wise decision making, encouraging the student leaders to listen more and speak thoughtfully.

In a show of support for the student government, Hon. Thomas P. Fallah, the representative of District #1, contributed a generous initiative of 50,000 Liberian dollars to assist with projects the council aims to undertake within the institution. This pledge underscores the commitment of local leadership to invest in the future of the university and its students.

Dr. Dorbor Akoi, the new president of the Free Pentecostal University, expressed his dedication to working alongside the student council.

Dr. Akoi emphasized the necessity of engaging lecturers who prioritize classroom involvement over those who may be present solely on paper.

He, however, announced that starting next semester, financial aid will be exclusively available to students who maintain proper registration within the university.

He also encouraged the community to cultivate a respect for time, recognizing its fleeting nature, and motivated everyone to work diligently towards national improvement.

The student council president-elect, Mr. Tokpa M. Tarnue Sr., called for inclusive leadership, urging collaboration across political lines to strengthen the institution.

Tarnue highlighted the need for a strong united front to elevate the Free Pentecostal University, which is recognized as the premier higher learning institution in Lofa County.

Furthermore, Mr. Tarnue appealed to the caucus members of Lofa County to advocate for including the university in the national budget, ensuring sustainable operations for the coming years.

In closing, Mr. Tarnue reaffirmed his commitment to collaborating with fellow students to create a better environment for education and to nurture the next generation of leaders in Liberia.

The induction ceremony ended on a hopeful note, inspiring students to embrace their roles as future leaders and active contributors to their community and country.
