Infiltration Plot Uncovered Ahead of Motorcyclist Protest

A plot to infiltrate the upcoming motorcyclist protest in Liberia has been uncovered, with members of the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) and former officers of the Executive Protection Service (EPS) allegedly involved. Sources say the aim is to create chaos and disrupt the protest, which is scheduled for March 3, 2025, in Monrovia.

The conspiracy reportedly began at a meeting on March 1, 2025, at a former EPS officer’s residence in Paynesville, where a strategy was devised to use a vehicle to transport individuals to Capitol Hill to incite violence. It is claimed that members of the CDC Youth League among others have been enlisted to participate in the plot.

Alvin Wesseh, a key figure within the CDC, is said to be one of the main organizers. The plan is for participants to provoke tensions with the police and escalate the situation, potentially leading to property damage and loss of life.

Tensions between motorcyclists and the police have been high for some time, especially in Monrovia, where motorcyclists, known as “okada” riders, play a vital role in transportation. In response to ongoing government crackdowns, motorcyclists have voiced their dissatisfaction with restrictions on their operations, citing negative impacts on their livelihoods and increased police harassment.

A recent government-imposed ban restricting motorcyclists from operating in certain areas of the city has been a major point of contention. The protest on March 3 aims to oppose these restrictions and demand improved working conditions. However, the alleged infiltration plot raises concerns about the potential for violence.

The involvement of the CDC and former EPS officers could escalate the situation further. Authorities are on high alert, preparing for possible unrest. The government has yet to comment, but security agencies are focused on preventing any disruptions during the protest.

Many motorcyclists feel unsupported by the government and targeted by law enforcement. As tensions grow, calls for a dialogue between motorcyclists, the government, and law enforcement are increasing. If the allegations against the CDC are proven, it could damage the party’s reputation and its relationship with the public.

As the protest approaches, the government and law enforcement face increasing pressure to ensure it remains peaceful and to protect citizens and property from potential violence. The coming days will be crucial in managing the balance between the rights of the protestors and maintaining public order.
