Zimbabwe – The Iranian Embassy in Zimbabwe has sparked online reactions following a post widely interpreted as mocking former U.S. President Donald Trump.
The development comes after Trump reportedly issued an 8:00 p.m. Tuesday deadline for Iran to reopen the strategic Strait of Hormuz, a key global oil transit route. In response, the embassy shared his statement and posted a message that appeared sarcastic in tone.
“8 P.M. is not that good,” the embassy wrote. “Could you change it to between 1 and 2 P.M., or if possible, 1 and 2 A.M.? Thank you for your attention to this important matter. I.E.Z.”
The comment quickly gained traction on social media, with users debating whether it was an official diplomatic response or a satirical remark.
There has been no immediate clarification from Iranian officials regarding the intent of the message. Observers say the exchange highlights ongoing tensions and the increasingly unconventional tone of communication between political actors on digital platforms.
