A Research by this paper has captured 5 simple but painful truths about two leeward mining communities. One is in Liberia. The other is in Turkey.
These two companies, Bea Mountain Mining Corporation operating in Liberia and Anagold Madencilik operating in Turkey, are largely owned by Turkish people or Turkish firms.
1) Anagold mines for gold in eastern Turkey while Bea Mountain mines for gold in Western Liberia.
2) Both Anagold and Bea Mountain generate more than 1 billion USD every year in gold revenues.
3) Anagold in Turkey started gold production in 2010 while Bea Mountain in Liberia started gold production in 2001, nine years before Anagold.

4) Anagold operates in an eastern community called Erzincan in Turkey while Bea Mountain operates in a western community called Kinjor in Liberia.
5) Look at the facilities that Anagold built for the community where they are operating in Turkey and look at the community where Bea Mountain is operating in Liberia.
The same Turkish people operating in Liberia did this for their own people in Turkey. But it cannot be done in Liberia even though they have generated and are generating tens of billions of U.S. dollars from Liberia. These facilities are only good in Turkey and for Turkish, but they are not good in Liberia and for Liberians. Huh…???? This is the real tragedy confronting Liberia that must be altered with urgency.
Furthermore, a single Liberian is not working at Anagold in Turkey
. But dozens of Turkish are working at Bea Mountain in Liberia
; some are even working as carpenters, fuel attendants, drivers, car washers, etc.
Is Liberia cursed or it suffers from entrenched leadership deficit?

What can Bea Mountain show since 2001? The People of Grand Cape Mount County, especially Kinjor, still live in shacks and huts. Bea Mountain knows what should be done. But they’ve woefully chosen to clandestinely connive with a few greedy and corrupt Liberian politicians to loot Liberia, suppress its people, and mortgage its natural resources. But history is taking note.
According to Bea Mountain, they are producing 900 kilos of gold every month which is valued at over US$137 million, but almost everywhere in Cape Mount is still dark without even safe drinking water and better healthcare.

Who should be blamed for this? The Leaders in Liberia or The Companies operating in Liberia? Have your say…
