NIMBA COUNTY, Liberia – In an unannounced visit on July 30, 2025, Madam Kou Meapeh Gono, the Superintendent of Nimba County, inspected the nearly completed Tappita Executive Lodge during the Fast & Prayer holiday. Expressing her enthusiasm, she noted that the furniture for the lodge could soon be moved in, a step she believes will enhance her engagement with the people of Tappita and Lower Nimba.
“I promised the people of Tappita and Lower Nimba that I would spend a lot of time there to interact and work with them more. While doing so, I must stay at a County Facility, not a hotel,” Madam Gono stated, highlighting her commitment to local community development and engagement.
Acknowledging the effort behind this initiative, she thanked Mr. Tweh for the long-awaited completion of the lodge, which has been a project in progress for 12 years. Madam Gono also announced plans for the reconstruction of the Official Presidential Palace in Tappita City, set to commence in the coming weeks.
She emphasized that under her administration, the President and other guests of the county would not have to stay at the Jackson F. Doe Memorial Hospital when visiting Tappita. The Superintendent also recognized the contributions of Hon. Twain Gleekia in establishing a new police facility and for numerous other development initiatives in the area.
In the latter part of her day, Madam Gono visited the residents of Gokorpa in Yarwinmehsonneh, where she discussed the significant agricultural investment in the region, which has brought joy to the local community. “More importantly, I went to assure them that they are not forgotten, and that we will complete the only Primary School in their town soon,” she added.
Madam Gono concluded her reflections by sharing how her public service role holds a profound meaning for her when it involves working closely with local communities.
