SUAKOKO: The Administration of Phebe Hospital in Suakoko District, Bong County, has received a huge donation of Medical and Nonmedical Supplies from President Joseph Nyumah Boakai’s Humanitarian Foundation.
The Joseph Nyumah Boakai’s Foundation is focused on driving transformative social change by bringing together implementing organizations with shared values to provide needed assistance and service with impact to improve the lives of the people of Liberia
The donation of the medical and nonmedical equipment was made during the evening hours of Wednesday, August 7, 2024 on the main compound of the hospital.
Notable amongst the medical and nonmedical supplies donated to the government referral Hospital in the central region of Liberia include, Googles and Face Protection, Gowns, Isolation Level 1&2, Isolation and Biohazard Level 3&4, Surgical Non-sterile, Dental Light and Dental Stool Assistant.
Others are, Dental UV Cure Light, Dental Surgical Instruments, Laryngoscope, Monitor, Vital Signs 5-function ( NIPB, Pulse, Optional TEMP, SPO2, ECG) and Battery operated Oximeter Pulse amongst several others.
Presenting the assorted medical and nonmedical equipment to the administration of the hospital, the Executive Director of the Joseph Nyumah Boakai’s Foundation, Jackson George said the donation came following an assessment on the hospitals needs a few years ago.
Additionally, Mr. George added that the foundation, being involved in humanitarian gestures, is committed to buttressing central government’s efforts, especially in the medical sector.
According to him, this cycle of the Foundations good-will gesture is affecting four Hospitals in Liberia namely Redemption, C.H Rennie, Phebe and the Government Hospital in Tubmanburg, Bomi County.
Moreover, the JNBs Foundation Executive Director told newsmen and the hospitals administration that the medical and nonmedical equipment funding were procured by an American organization called PROJECT CURE.
Mr. George further placed the cost of the donated medical and nonmedical equipment to Phebe Hospital at one hundred seventy-five thousand United States Dollars (USD $175,000.00).
He also added that the total cost of donations to the four hospitals is at four hundred fifty thousand United States Dollars (USD $450,000.00).
Meanwhile, Mr. Jackson George has assured the administration of Phebe Hospital that the President’s foundation is committed to always helping the hospital in times of need.
He is at the same time admonishing the administration of Phebe Hospital to use the supplied medical and nonmedical equipment for the intended purpose.
Receiving the good-will Supplies on behalf of the Hospital, Phebe Hospitals Medical Director, Dr. Minnie Sangawolo-Risk, lauded the President’s foundation for making such a donation to the people of Bong and adjacent counties. She added that the donation came at the time the hospital is in need of the materials.
For his part, Bong County Health Team Officer, Dr. Jefferson Sibley, on behalf of the county’s Health Team and local authorities extended commendations to President Boakai’s Foundation for identifying with Phebe Hospital.
The both medical practitioners also promised the donor and partners to use the medical and nonmedical supplied equipment for the purpose intended.
