Saclepea City, Nimba County ~ Kickball referee Julius Suah has been arrested in Saclepea by local police for allegedly stealing 50 gallons of fuel from a six-tire truck. The incident occurred during the ongoing Nimba County Electoral Districts Kickball Tournament, in which Suah has been serving as an official.
Suah, who is based in the county’s capital but is currently residing in Saclepea due to the tournament, was taken into custody at the Ma Dadeh Guest House along the Saclepea–Ganta highway. According to the truck driver, identified only as Gofan, Suah left his mobile phone at the scene of the alleged theft, which ultimately led to his arrest.
In police custody, Referee Suah reportedly admitted to the crime and identified a local businessman in Saclepea as the person who purchased the stolen fuel. Both Suah and the alleged buyer have spent two nights in police detention as investigations continue.
In response to the arrest, the Liberia Kickball Federation (LKF) has officially distanced itself from Suah. In a statement released Tuesday, the federation condemned the alleged action and called on the Liberia National Police (LNP) to conduct a full investigation.
“The Liberia Kickball Federation disassociates itself from the personal conduct of Mr. Suah and encourages the LNP to pursue the matter to its logical conclusion,” the statement read. “If found guilty, he must face the full weight of the law.”
The LKF also urged the public not to link Suah’s alleged misconduct to the federation, emphasizing that “crime is not transferable” under Liberian law.
Police in Saclepea say the case remains under investigation, and further details will be released as they become available.
