Kogar-Kortor Feud Deepens as Rep. Kortor Kwagrue Accuses Sen. Kogar of Political Undermining

Newly elected Representative Kortor Kwagrue of Nimba Electoral District #5 has publicly accused Nimba County Senator Samuel G. Kogar of persistently undermining his political efforts.

According to Rep. Kwagrue, the rocky relationship between the two officials dates back to the 2023 legislative elections.

Appearing on the ELBC Super Morning Show with host Varflay Kamara, Rep. Kwagrue opened up about what he described as Senator Kogar’s personal and political resistance to his leadership.

“The senator, in his own mind, had not decided to go against the Vice President,” Rep. Kwagrue said. “But he doesn’t want to see Kortor as a representative. He believes my election was sponsored by the Vice President.”

Kwagrue suggested that Senator Kogar’s opposition is rooted in the belief that his candidacy was backed by national figures, particularly the Vice President, which has allegedly contributed to ongoing friction.

Hon. Kogar has said, time without number, in our district that over his dead body can he ever be on the same level as me,” Kwagrue alleged. “But I’ve decided to assume I might be the problem, and try to work with him. One day, he’ll see my efforts and realize I mean well.”

Despite the animosity, Kwagrue emphasized his willingness to collaborate, expressing hope that mutual respect could eventually be restored.

He further claimed that Senator Kogar demands unquestioned loyalty from his colleagues and does not respond well to political independence.

“He believes that when he wakes up and speaks, nobody should question him. Everyone must agree,” Kwagrue stated. “But I was the first to stand tall and respectfully disagree. He didn’t see that as politics—he saw it as disrespect.”

Kwagrue also cited legislative transparency as a key source of tension between them. He pointed to the 2023 campaign period, during which he raised concerns about the lack of accountability surrounding development projects.

Most of our legislative projects were announced, but we didn’t see any visible results,” he said. “I was the first to request the blueprints and Bill of Quantities (BOQs). That sparked a long-running argument between us.”

Still, Rep. Kwagrue remains confident in his growing base of support.

He revealed that more than 175 commercial motorcyclists in his district are backing his efforts.

As political tensions persist in Nimba County, many residents and observers are watching closely to see how the strained relationship between Rep. Kwagrue and Senator Kogar will affect governance and development in the months ahead.
