The Ministry of Labor (MOL) under the leadership of Cllr. Cooper Kruah has disclosed plans to reach its ambitious goal of achieving over Eight Million United States Dollars (US$8M) in revenue generation.
MOL told this paper that the ambitious goal stems from measures put in place to avoid less revenue compared to past regimes.
The Labor Ministry through its Minster, Cllr. Copper Kruah, said the institution is experiencing a swell in revenue, more than that of his predecessors, noting that they will meet their target at the end of this fiscal calendar year, 2024.
According to him, the Ministry under their leadership was met with a disarranged and disorganized system, something he attributed to poor performance in revenue generation over the years.
“When we came, the ministry was not in order. People were misplaced and things were not done properly through administrative procedures. Since we came, we have made substantial transformation, and you can see that things are in proper order.
Inspectors and other workers are identified with a numbering system to avoid impersonation and illegal behaviors from employees and outsiders,” Minister Kruah stated in an interview with Verity’s Zac Sherman.
The Minister named poor policy implementation; lack of coordination as major issues they were confronted with after taken over.
The handling of these impediments, according to the Minister has led to the Ministry generating over US $5M since the inception of their leadership up to July of this year, 2024.
“In this same period, when our predecessors were here, they generated less than US $3M. This couldn’t have happened if they had put in place the rightful mechanism,” Cllr. Kruah narrated.
Meanwhile, Cllr. Kruah expressed his commitment to handling internal turmoil as being reported.
According to him, a recent misunderstanding between two employees at the Ministry, as reported by Verity Newspaper, will be handled appropriately.
Minister Kruah maintains that the ministry is working void of tribalism, something he noted is devisive.
“We are encouraging inclusiveness in line with the Civil Service Agency policies and guidelines, and we don’t find pleasure in dismissing Liberians because of their political backgrounds.”, Minister Kruah indicated.
In a related development, the Ministry of Labor has also unveiled plans that will enable some concession companies to explore vacation job opportunities for students across Liberia.
The aim of this is to create opportunities for young people, especially school-going youth to explore their potential.
The project seeks to target over 400 young Liberians and is meant to provide an internship opportunities, thereby enabling them to have funds amid the closure of schools across Liberia.
The Ministry believes stipends accrued from these vacation opportunities will financially aid young Liberians in returning to their various campuses upon the opening of l the Schools in Liberia.
