Monrovia, Liberia — The Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC) has strongly dismissed allegations made by former Monrovia City Mayor Jefferson T. Koijee, describing his claims as “baseless, misleading, and politically motivated.” In a statement issued on December 4, 2025, the Commission said it was “deeply regrettable” that a former public official would, in its view, mislead the public with information it considers entirely false.
Koijee has alleged that the Commission engaged in the diversion of public funds and made payments connected to what he referred to as a “December 6 Mobilization.” The LACC, however, categorically denied the accusations, stating that it has made no such payments and has never been involved in any financial scheme resembling the one described by Koijee. The Commission characterized the allegations as “reckless” and lacking any factual basis.
According to the LACC, its operations are governed by strict legal, administrative, and financial procedures, including internal controls and external audits. The Commission said any suggestion that it is involved in criminal activity or political patronage is part of an effort to pull integrity institutions into political disputes. Officials emphasized that the Commission remains committed to investigating corruption, upholding transparency, and safeguarding the public interest.
The LACC further urged the public and Liberia’s international partners to disregard what it called fabrications and instead rely on verified information from credible institutions. It encouraged anyone with legitimate evidence of corruption to present it through the appropriate legal channels. Despite the controversy, the Commission said it remains “focused and unshaken” in fulfilling its mandate.
