The Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC) has officially launched its Five-Year Strategic Plan (2026–2030) aimed at strengthening Liberia’s integrity system and promoting sustainable governance. The launch took place on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at the Royal Grand Hotel in Monrovia under the theme: “Strengthening Integrity System for Sustainable Governance.”

The ceremony, which was graced by government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, civil society representatives, and development partners, was funded by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

Delivering the overview of the new strategic plan, the Executive Chairperson of the LACC, Cllr. Alexandra Zoe, described the five-year plan as a roadmap designed to enhance enforcement, build institutional capacity, and promote transparency in Liberia’s governance system.

Cllr. Zoe emphasized that corruption remains one of the most serious threats to national development and democracy, noting that it undermines the rule of law and effective service delivery.

“This strategic plan is a bold step toward rebuilding public trust in our institutions,” she said. “It focuses on prevention, enforcement, and education key areas needed to create a corruption-free Liberia.”

She explained that the plan aligns with President Joseph Nyuma Boakai’s ARREST Agenda, particularly its pillars of accountability, reform, and institutional transparency, and will support efforts toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Reaffirming the Commission’s commitment, Cllr. Zoe added that the LACC is determined to build a transparent and accountable society for the benefit of all Liberians.

Meanwhile, Dr. Augustine Konneh, Senior Advisor in the Office of the President, commended the LACC for taking what he called “a forward-looking and courageous step” toward institutional reform.

“On behalf of the President, I wish to applaud the leadership of the LACC for demonstrating vision and commitment to national renewal,” Dr. Konneh remarked. “This strategic plan is not just a document it is a reflection of our collective resolve to uphold integrity, transparency, and accountability in governance. The Office of the President remains fully supportive of this initiative as it aligns with our national development priorities under the ARREST Agenda.”

The event concluded with a cocktail dinner at the Royal Grand Hotel, where participants exchanged ideas on strengthening anti-corruption mechanisms and ensuring the effective implementation of the new strategy.

Taking the podium, Mr. Ernest Hughes, Vice Chairperson of the LACC, highlighted the national significance of the plan, describing it as “a framework for every Liberian.”

“This plan is not just for the Commission,” Hughes stressed. “It is a collective call to government institutions, civil society, and the international community to unite in the fight against corruption.”

He commended the UNDP and other development partners for their unwavering support, noting that such collaboration is vital to achieving the goals outlined in the new strategy.
