LBS Resumes Live Broadcast of MICAT Press Briefings, DG Fahngon Promises Improvement At The State Broadcaster

The Liberia Broadcasting System (LBS) has officially lifted its suspension on live coverage of the Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs, and Tourism’s (MICAT) weekly press briefings.

‎The decision followed a courtesy visit on Monday by the Minister of Information, Culture Affairs and Tourism, Hon. Jerolinmek Matthew Piah, and Ambassador Christopher Hayes Onanuga, Special Presidential Envoy on Tourism, to the LBS headquarters in Paynesville.

‎Minister Piah, who also chairs the LBS Board of Directors, held a strategic meeting with LBS Director General, Hon. Eugene L. Fahngon, during the visit. The engagement aimed to strengthen collaboration and resolve ongoing operational challenges within the state broadcaster.

‎As one of the key outcomes of the meeting, the suspension of live MICAT press conference coverage was immediately reversed. A follow-up meeting involving the Ministry of State, LBS management, the Ministry of Information, and the LBS Board is expected in the coming days to further address lingering concerns and foster institutional harmony.

‎Speaking, both Minister Piah and Director General Fahngon expressed confidence in renewed cooperation, emphasizing their joint commitment to revitalizing the State Broadcaster and enhancing government communication.

‎“We are committed to a strategic and results-driven partnership that places national interest above all,” Minister Piah affirmed.

‎Director Fahngon echoed the sentiment, calling on the public to continue supporting LBS as the country’s most credible source of news and public information. He expressed gratitude for the visit, pledging transformation within the institution.
